Why is it difficult to scrap a car without wheels?
Scrapping a car without wheels is more difficult for a number of reasons including:
- Being difficult to move- scrap cars are generally moved by rolling these onto removable wagons which is possible even if the vehicle is only a shell. However, without wheels special equipment is necessary to move the vehicle and this makes the process much longer and more challenging.
- Being worth less- a scrap car without wheels is not only more difficult to move but it also means that your vehicle is worth less and some scrap car recyclers may even refuse to take it. This is because factoring in the loss of the wheels, as well as the extra time, expensive and resources that will be needed to move the vehicle, it often isn’t worth the cost.
Selling after market alloys separately
One of the most common reasons why people want to scrap their vehicle without any wheels is because they want to sell aftermarket alloy wheels separately. While this is a good idea, it may be necessary for the original wheels to be put back on the vehicle to move this and allow this to be scrapped effectively.
